Position Summary
The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for two faculty positions in small animal diagnostic imaging at the rank of clinical (non-tenure) or tenure track/tenured assistant, associate, or full professor. To be considered for the tenure track or tenured faculty ranks, documented research productivity commensurate with rank and an interest in developing a research program is required. For all candidates, salary and entry rank will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and qualifications.
The major responsibilities of this position are to teach and provide service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, to teach pre-clinical didactic and laboratory courses in diagnostic imaging to veterinary students, to actively participate in the training of diagnostic imaging and other house officers, and to develop a research program, which can be independent and/or collaborative with other faculty members. Proportionate assignments for each area are based on the interests of the candidate, faculty assignment, and the missions of the Diagnostic Imaging program and the Department.
Successful candidates will join two full-time radiologists. Locum tenens support in ultrasound, and virtual locum tenens support of service and resident training with VetCT, will continue until all diagnostic imaging faculty positions are filled. Our team includes four residents (starting July 2022), eight skilled registered veterinary technicians (two VTS-DI), a veterinary assistant, a PRN MRI technologist, and a full-time diagnostic imaging systems administrator. The goal is to have five full-time radiologists. The service currently enjoys the following equipment: a Siemens Skyra 3.0 Tesla MRI magnet and Siemens Somatom Sensation 64 slice CT, both of which accommodate large and small animals; GE Logiq-S8, Canon Aplio i700 and Toshiba Xario; Canon fluoroscopy, Canon digital radiography (3 DR Rooms), Canon RadPro portable DR unit; a dedicated interventional radiology suite with OEC 9900 Elite mobile C-arm fluoroscopy; IS2 Research NuCamma SR 53cm x 39 cm Free Floater gamma camera (Mirage nuclear medicine software); integrated DICOM viewing and archival system (Hyland NilRead viewer and Mach 7 VNA); and MedQ RIS and Reporting software.
For all candidates, salary and entry rank will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and qualifications.
Additional Requirements
All candidates must have completed an approved residency of the American College of Veterinary Radiology or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging, and have board certification or be eligible for board certification.
